Himalayan Restaurant & Bar
If you're strolling down Bath Street in Leamington Spa and craving something bold, comforting, and unmistakably flavour-packed, Himalayan Restaurant & Bar is one spot you shouldn’t pass up. Nestled at 58 Bath St, this gem offers more than just food - it's a full-on experience blending Nepalese soul with Indo-Chinese charm, and a touch of pub-style comfort food.
Let’s start with what really draws people in - the food. The Veg Momos here are a must-try; handmade, steamed, and served piping hot, they hit that delicate balance between doughy softness and savoury filling. If you’re a meat lover, go for the Steamed Momo Meat-juicy, hearty, and deeply satisfying. Those who love a little kick will appreciate the Chicken Choila, a Nepalese classic with marinated chicken bursting in smoky, spicy flavour, and a great way to open your appetite.
The menu branches out beautifully into fusion territory with dishes like Veg Hakka Noodles and the Himalayan Special Noodle, both of which are generous in portion and layered with that signature umami edge. Pair these with Chinese Bhel, a crunchy, tangy, Indo-Chinese street food favourite that’s a surprise standout for many who try it. And if you're after a hearty main, the Chicken Biryani delivers bold aromatics and tender meat in every forkful, while the Fish Curry brings the warmth of coastal spices, mellowed by rich, savoury gravy.
For those who want familiar comfort, you’re not left behind. There’s Fish Fingers and Chips-crispy, golden, and loved especially by solo diners looking for something fuss-free but fulfilling. Then there’s the Masala Chips, perfect for sharing, munching, or just pairing with a chilled beer or Mango Lassi (yes, they serve both - and the lassi’s fresh, creamy, and slightly sweet, just like it should be).
From the tandoor, Garlic Naan comes out with the perfect char and chewiness, ideal for scooping up curries or accompanying the crowd-favourite Chicken Tikka Masala. The Chicken Vindaloo is unapologetically bold, and if you’re chasing spice - this one’s your game.
Another reason locals keep coming back is the ambience. It's relaxed and welcoming, designed for both quick bites and leisurely dinners. While it doesn’t have wheelchair-accessible entrances or car parks, the dine-in experience feels intimate and laid-back, especially for solo diners who want a quiet table and a rich plate of something memorable. Whether you're picking up takeaway, getting no-contact delivery, or dining in, the service is straightforward and efficient. Counter service is available, which adds a casual vibe, especially when you're in a rush but still want proper food.
Himalayan Restaurant & Bar also caters to various dietary preferences. They serve halal food, coffee, beer, wine, and spirits - ideal for winding down in the evening. Whether you’re going full vegetarian or want something sizzling and meat-heavy like the Veg Grill Sizzler, there’s something to match every mood and moment.
The Himalayan Special Seafood Curry is another sleeper hit - rich, aromatic, and generous with fresh seafood. It’s a dish that reflects the kitchen's effort to blend traditional cooking techniques with local tastes, and it leaves a strong impression, especially when paired with fluffy rice or naan on the side.
For dessert? While their sweet options aren’t as widely highlighted as the mains, they do serve a decent selection, rounding off your meal with a satisfying close.
What makes this place truly distinct is the range and diversity in the menu - you're not locked into just one type of cuisine. From Nepalese momos to Indian biryani, from Indo-Chinese stir-fried noodles to classic British fish & chips, the offering here is surprisingly wide without feeling scattered. It works because the flavours are consistent, and the portions are honest.
So if you're in Leamington Spa and wondering where to eat tonight, and you're not in the mood for another chain or overly fancy spot, Himalayan Restaurant & Bar hits the sweet spot between comfort, flavour, and something just a little off the beaten path.
Reviews
Liked the food. We tried Veg and Chicken Momos, Veg Spring Rolls, Egg and Chicken Hakka noodles,Veg Manchow Soup, Chilli Garlic Prawns and Gulab Jamun with ice cream. Momos and noodles were great. The staff were kind enough to accommodate as Soup and Egg Hakka noodles were not on the menu but they made it for us. Loved the soup. Prawns were okay. And just to add , we were given the dessert as complimentary!! Got the closest Indian Chinese food experience in UK ( whatever little we have tried so far).
Around 50 minutes from in to out, though not too busy a Saturday evening. Comfortable chairs, and it seemed a clean place. My spouse and I skipped starters, mind, and simply had a main course each, which was very tasty and good portions to boot. Not a fancy place, but we'd be happy to return. Enjoyed non-British musac, as befits this restaurant.
The food was good and the staff were lovely. They did seem to have trouble getting my partner's drinks orders right. Also, some of the drinks in the menu weren't available. Plus, they also took longer than you'd expect to bring the drinks out. Overall, I'd still go back as it was reasonably priced.
We finally made it here after looking to go for a while, and we're so glad we did! Outstanding food, great flavours, and big portions made it a superb first visit. My onion bhaji starter was different to what you'd get in a standard Indian restaurant, I thought it was nicer! For my main, I've never had Tawa before but it was lovely, very well flavoured and just the right amount of spices for me. Very friendly service and the food came out quickly. There are so many dishes we'd like to try that we're definitely returning! Highly recommended!
This is more like a mix of Indo Nepalese cuisine. The restaurant is very congested with hardly any space to walk around. The starters were good but the main course selection even after going after their recommendation were not up to mark. The place is pocket friendly and loud. The service is slow but the staff are cool. Toilets are in the basement, so if anyone with accessibility issues will find it very difficult. Visited Oct 23
